DC applications

Dear All,

Can this standard apply also for DC applications? Are there any standards or approach for Solar, Electric Vehicles that people are willing to share/discuss. One question that I wonder is what would be the approach of earth size in for example DC/DC converters or in general other converters/inverters where you can have 1000V with a small diameter wire and 100V with a bigger diameter of wire? Would then need further research in the internal design of the DC/DC converter?

Hi @Turtlemaster, below the answer from the expert I contacted:

IEC 60364-5-54 standard applies to AC and DC LV installation.

IEC 60364-7-712 Clause 712.54 provides additional requirements for Solar application.

IEC 60364-7-722 for EV charging is not very helpful for PE sizing.

Generally speaking, the IEC 60364 series describe better AC installations using TT and TN earthing schemes, compared to DC installations using IT system. And PE sizing in DC IT with disconnection at the first fault as we may see in EV charging mode 4 is not clearly defined today.

I suggest that you post your question in SE Exchange forum where more people may contribute to the discussion.
